How Long Does An Eye Exam Take?
At Doc Eye LLC, our eye exams take anywhere from 1-2 hours. We are very thorough much more than other places so sometimes it takes longer. Of course, this doesn’t include filling out forms or checking in. Contact lens evaluations on top of the exam take a bit longer. Be sure to fill out the forms before you come to the office to reduce any delays!

What Can I Expect With Every Eye Exam?
We do refractions for glasses, do evaluations of contact lenses, treat dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration and other medical conditions. We are more at Doc Eye LLC than the average eye doctor's office. Every eye exam includes vision and health evaluations at every visit. We do vision testing, glaucoma screening, dry eye testing, retina and optic nerve evaluation, and other screenings for eye disease. All of this is included with every full exam!

Will my insurance cover my visit?
YES. Most of the time insurance will cover a visit as long as you are current on your insurance. We know the billing codes and what insurance will pay. We also know from our software what your deductible and copays are. We try very hard to ensure there are no surprises.

What Kind of Eye Doctor Should I See?
We are not your average eye doctor's office since we are much more thorough and comprehensive. We include more testing with every exam. Doc Eye LLC is a medically based optometry practice since we do refractions for glasses, do evaluations of contact lenses, and treat dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other medical conditions.

What is an Optometrist, Ophthalmologist, and Optician?
This is known as the 3 O’s of eyecare. Ophthalmologists are eye doctors who treat medical conditions and may perform surgery on the eye and external ocular structures. They can fit eyeglasses and contact lenses. Opticians are technicians who fit vision-correcting devices such as eyeglasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions written by eye doctors. Optometrists are eye doctors and they are the best of both worlds since they treat medical eye conditions like ophthalmologists, although they don’t do invasive surgery, and they fit eyeglasses and contact lenses like opticians.

What Is A Contact Lens Fitting?
A contact lens fitting is an examination of the eye to see if it is healthy enough to properly wear a contact lens. We determine prescription power and corneal surface curve to match the contact lens, and we determine the maximum seeing power and fitting to make sure that vision and comfort is good. We review insertion and removal and care for contact lenses: the does and don’ts of contact lens wear. New evaluations may include one or more follows ups to determine the final prescription. These follow ups are included in the fitting fee. At Doc Eye LLC we fit spherical, toric (for astigmatism), multifocal (distance and near like a bifocal), and other specialty lenses.

Can I Get Just a Contact Lens Fitting If I Had An Eye Exam Elsewhere?
We specialize in comprehensive eye examinations of the eye which includes an added-on contact lens evaluation. If you have had an eye exam elsewhere we also have to thoroughly examine the eye as well. If you are an existing patient at Doc Eye LLC, we can do an evaluation if the comprehensive exam was within the last 6 months. We are more than happy to help!

Do you offer financing options?
No, but we certainly accept all major credit cards and debit cards at Doc Eye LLC. We are more than willing to help out when we can so please do not hesitate to talk to us about your financial issues.

Can I get a same-day appointment?
Yes, certainly can! Most of the time we can squeeze in same-day appointments for regular comprehensive eye exams and eye “urgencies”. We at Doc Eye LLC try to accommodate everyone but our appointments fill quick!

Do you remove foreign bodies ?
Yes, we do. The first question is: What is a foreign body? A foreign body is an object that could be as simple as an eyelash or as complicated as a metallic object embedded in the cornea. This FB can be anywhere in the ocular structures from the eyelids to inside or behind the eyeball. We can remove most foreign bodies if they are external to the eye but once they enter the eye, that’s the realm of the surgeon. In addition to FB removal, we also perform a multitude of medical procedures such as dry eye and glaucoma treatment. We treat other common medical eye problems such as allergic and bacterial conjunctivitis, viral infections, and iritis.
